Joey Baron is world renowned for his exceptional musicality, which he applies to every musical setting, making him a sought-after collaborator in the contemporary creative music scene. Born in Richmond, Virginia, in 1955, Baron honed his drumming skills from an early age, developing a passion for jazz and improvisation that still informs his work today.

His vast experience has included such diverse ,important figures such as Carmen Mcrae, Lou Reed, Toots Thielemans, Laurie Anderson, Chet Baker, Allen Ginsburg, Ron Carter, David Bowie, John Zorn, Bill Frisell, Lou Rawls, Steve Kuhn, Lee Konitz, Gary Peacock, Al Jarreau, John Abercrombie, Brian Eno, Jim Hall ,Joe Lovano.

Currently, Baron is involved in several exciting projects, including his work with MixMonk, an innovative jazz collective that explores new approaches to improvisation and composition. His ongoing collaboration with master percussionist Robyn Schulkowsky continues to explore the precise , noisy ,and beautiful.
